Summary:
Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is seeking an Executive Director to lead a public comprehensive community mental health center that offers behavioral health services to a nine county region in South Mississippi and crisis services in five additional Gulf Coast counties. This position will be based in Hattiesburg, MS.  


PBMHR offers services in four main program areas:  Adult, Child and Adolescent, Chemical Dependency, and Intellectual/Developmental Disability, ranging from outpatient to residential settings.  Our mission is to provide community-based behavioral healthcare services in such an effective manner that consumers will be empowered to pursue an optimal quality of life.
Guided by a Board of Commissioners, PBMHR employs approximately 600 staff, serves in excess of 8,400 clients annually with a $39,000,000 budget.    
 


The Community:
The primary mental health center is based out of Hattiesburg in the heart of the Pine Belt. Hattiesburg has all the charm of a college town, with the amenities of a large city. The Greater Hattiesburg area is home to two major universities, two community colleges and multiple primary and secondary education districts. Hattiesburg is the premier healthcare hub of South Mississippi with two major hospitals and the largest multi-specialty clinic in the state. Hattiesburg residents enjoy a variety of activities including art festivals, museums, athletic events as well as symphony and theater performances.
 

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary for the Executive Director position will be competitive and comparable with experience.

Requirements:
The ideal  Executive Director candidate would possess a minimum of Master's Degree in mental health, public health, business or related field.

This candidate would also possess a minimum of 3 years administrative experience in program leadership related to public health, mental health, intellectual/developmental disabilities, substance use disorders services and/or programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and technical consultation to the Board of Commissioners.
  • Oversee all day-to day operations of the agency.
  • Plan and oversee attainment of goals for agency.
  • General consultation, education and advocacy to other community agencies. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development.
  • Possess the ability to access data for strategic planning.  
  • Directly supervise Executive Management Team (Program Managers, CFO, HR Director, PI Manager, Grant Writer).
  • Must collaborate with Executive Management Team to fulfill agency’s mission, remain in compliance with Mississippi Department of Mental Health Standards and maintain CARF accreditation.
  • Oversee the adequacy and soundness of PBMHR’s financial position. 
  • Monitors legislative developments and respond accordingly.
