Summary:
Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is seeking an energetic and motivated Co-Occurring Disorder Specialist for Hattiesburg, MS. The primary goal of the Co-Occurring Disorder Specialist is to work in conjunction with Department of Mental Health designated Peer Evaluators/Reviewers to assess the co-occurring readiness of the Agency's substance use disorder service system. The ideal candidate will be familiar with co-occurring disorders and work to provide training and treatment plans for individuals requiring mental health and substance use treatment.

For 50 years, Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources has served individuals throughout the Pine Belt.  Through an extensive continuum of care, we strive to enable adults with serious mental illnesses, children with serious emotional disturbances, and individuals with an addiction or developmental disability to live, work, learn, and participate fully in their communities.  Our eighteen county service area includes Amite, Franklin, Forrest, Hancock, Harrison, Jones, Lamar, Lawrence, Covington, Greene, Jeff Davis, Marion, Pearl River, Perry, Pike, Stone, Walthall, Wayne Counties. 


Requirements:
  • Master's degree in behavioral health field required
  • Clinical license preferred
  • Must have valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
  • Reliable transportation needed to provide services in the community
  • Working knowledge of mental health symptoms and substance use disorder
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Behavioral health internship required
  • Independent work ability

    Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates with staff to provide basic training on symptoms, prevalence, detection, and triage for individuals with co-occurring disorders.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the consumer served.
  • Participates in team staffing and functions as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Serves as consultant as needed on co-occurring cases.
  • Develops effective procedures to address psychiatric crises or emergencies and medication management in both mental health and substance use treatment settings.
