Summary:
Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is seeking a dedicated and energetic Veteran Healthcare Navigator to provide services to veteran participants for a grant in Hattiesburg, MS. The Veteran Healthcare Navigator position plays a vital role in coordinating with other healthcare systems ensuring appropriate care coordination for veterans participating in the SSVF program. In this role, the Veteran Healthcare Navigator will serve veteran families from Jackson to the MS Gulf Coast, with families from the Pine Belt Mental Health service area being the primary focus.

 
For 50 years, Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources has served individuals throughout the Pine Belt.  Through an extensive continuum of care, we strive to enable adults with serious mental illnesses, children with serious emotional disturbances, and individuals with an addiction or developmental disability to live, work, learn, and participate fully in their communities.  Our eighteen county service area includes Amite, Franklin, Forrest, Hancock, Harrison, Jones, Lamar, Lawrence, Covington, Greene, Jeff Davis, Marion, Pearl River, Perry, Pike, Stone, Walthall, Wayne Counties. 


Requirements:
  • Master's degree in behavioral healthcare or related field preferred
  • LCSW or equivalent background preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation to provide community services
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Excellent communications skills required
  • Independent work ability

  • Responsibilities:
  • Maintains and updates contact list of VA and other community programs.
  • Maintains successful working relationship between SSVF program and providers.
  • Identifies and attempts to remove barriers to care for veteran participants.
  • Assists veterans in gaining access to healthcare, supporting healthcare plans by identifying barriers to care, and providing education on wellness-related topics.
