Summary:
Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources has an opening for a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse to provide services for a short-term crisis management center in Laurel, MS. The LPN position plays a significant role in coordinating medical services and providing nursing needs for adults suffering from serious mental illness. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in behavioral health as well as a professional and compassionate demeanor. The LPN works in conjunction with the mental health care team to provide safe and effective treatment to the consumer during time of crisis in an effort to promote a positive environment in order to return to their community.

Position will cover 12 hour shifts on a 3/2 rotation. 
 
For 50 years, Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources has served individuals throughout the Pine Belt.  Through an extensive continuum of care, we strive to enable adults with serious mental illnesses, children with serious emotional disturbances, and individuals with an addiction or developmental disability to live, work, learn, and participate fully in their communities.  Our eighteen county service area includes Amite, Franklin, Forrest, Hancock, Harrison, Jones, Lamar, Lawrence, Covington, Greene, Jeff Davis, Marion, Pearl River, Perry, Pike, Stone, Walthall, Wayne Counties.   

Requirements:
  • Valid MS LPN license
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record required
  • Behavioral healthcare experience preferred
  • Crisis de-escalation skills required
  • Excellent verbal and written skills required
  • Experience working in a crisis unit preferred
  • Has a desire to work with consumers who have a serious mental illness diagnosis

  • Responsibilities:
  • Administers medications and treatments as ordered.
  • Charts progress, medication, symptoms, incidents and observations.
  • Provides information regarding changes in progress to the Charge Nurse.
  • Provides emergency services as needed.
  • Manages staff/unit at times the RN is indisposed.
  • Assists in leading groups.
